Il nous parle de son travail : l'élevage des cochons culs-noirs, la manière de les préparer ; l'école pendant la guerre ; les bals au Bois de Bourzat avec Gus Viseur, Tony Murena ou Jean Ségurel ; le conseil de révision, l'armée ; la pratique de la langue ; les retours de foire. Marcel Belette et sa femme Simone ont été - dès le début des années 60 - parmi les premiers collecteurs bas-corréziens. Ils ont animé plusieurs groupes folkloriques notament dans les années 70 "La Couade de Troche". Ce document est la compilation de plusieurs enregistrements . on y trouvera un très beau répertoire de sautières du sud-ouest du limousin, des mimologismes, prières, polkas, bourrées, scottishs, gnorles, etc... Des renseignements sur les danses, sur les informateurs, des paroles parfois " difficilement traduisibles " Marcel, chanteur et musicien de tradition, bien qu'aujourd'hui moins actif, reste un observateur avisé de ce milieu. Il nous a reçu très gentiment à de nombreuses reprises et a accepté de nous transmettre une partie de son savoir . Elle a longtemps vécu à St Robert puis à Ayen où elle a tenu un restaurant pendant une vingtaine d'années. Elle tenait ces chansons peu connues de son père qui adorait les chanter pendant les veillées, les battages... Nous avons rencontré Madame Vialle lors de l'enquête communale, elle nous avait livré ses chansons et nhorles et elle nous a gentiment proposé de nous recevoir chez elle pour les réenregistrer, plus au calme. Au-delà de cette évidence, il en vient une autre, parmi les plus beaux paniers d'éclisses de châtaignier faits en Limousin, ceux de Maurice Javelaud tenaient bonne place. Par centaines, paniers e deschas (panières) sont nés de l'alliance de ses doigts et du couteau. D'un savoir-faire acquis auprès de son père durant ses jeunes années il développa une véritable activité vannière une fois à la retraite. Qui, dans ce petit coin du Limousin, ne l'a pas rencontré derrière son banc de paniers dans toutes les fêtes artisanales du pays ? C'est dans son village de Bournazeau (commune d'Oradour-sur-Vayres) où il a toujours vécu que nous avons rencontré Maurice au printemps 2009. Au cours de deux après-midi, nous avons suivi les étapes de fabrication d'un panier dans l'obscurité de la vieille maison qui lui servait d'atelier. Les explications sont souvent succinctes, parfois sibyllines "Qu'es mas mesuras a me !"... Il reste à voir, à observer, à décrypter un geste, des réflexions, des attitudes, tant de choses héritées de siècles de savoir paysan en matière de vannerie traditionnelle. La première, dans les années 80 par Jean et Popy Dupetitmagnieux, que nous remercions vivement d'avoir bien voulu nous confier cet enregistrement. La seconde en 2003 par Pascal Boudy et Jean Marie Caunet, pour l' I.E.O. Lemosin. On y retrouvera plusieurs titres (La trencha, la locha, Muratel, la Vacha et la bela mair par exemple) enregistrés lors des deux enquêtes, à plus de 20 ans d'intervalle. Mme Froidefond était une informatrice de qualité qui aimait beaucoup nous recevoir, elle avait participé à de nombreuses manifestations pour lesquelles elle avait été sollicitée (fêtes de la sautières à Juillac, journées occitanes ... ) elle faisait du théatre (en occitan parfois) à St Robert ...
